The boys are back after taking four full weeks off because of vacations and schedule differences. Shaun and Dan dove right into a recap of 80/35 in Des Moines, IA. They discussed the acts on Friday that they saw, which included St. Lucia, Jenny Lewis, Talib Kweli and Rome Fortune. The boys discussed the incident that happened with Talib Kweli, where he had his mic cut short after going over his allotted time. Then they dove into Saturday’s acts, which included Canby, Jon Wayne and the Pain, Cloud Nothings, Lettuce, Run the Jewels and Weezer. Dan and Shaun mentioned how they loved Run the Jewels’ set but were pretty let down by Weezer’s set. Shaun said he felt they phoned it in.
Nick Gandy wasn’t in town for 80/35 and instead went to a wedding in Denver, Colorado. He gave some details of the beautiful ceremony and where they stayed. Shaun lamented that he wished Nick was in town so that he could attend the two Des Moines shows he went to solo: Good Old War on 7/15 and letlive. on 7/16. Shaun went on a rant about how nobody showed up to either of those shows.

Nick and Shaun went right into what they think about Apple Music just a week or so since they both activated their 90-day free trial. Dan and Nick seemed to be convinced people can just download the entire iTunes catalog. Shaun tried to explain that it was protected by DRM, which would render all those files useless unless you had a membership with Apple Music. The boys further discussed some of the things they liked about the service, including Beats 1 Radio. They also chatted about the things they didn’t like about the service but said it is a good start.

Dan wanted to chat about a new television that has started to air on USA called Mr. Robot. The thriller’s main character is a hacker with a lot of personal issues, including an addiction to morphine and depression. Shaun mentioned that he has finished season three of Orange is the New Black and that he has been watching season two of True Detective and that it has been a huge let down thus far.
The boys discussed the beef between Meek Mill and Drake. It all started with Meek Mill being offended that Drake didn’t give him a shout out on Twitter when he released his new album. He claimed that Drake didn’t shout out his new album because Mill and one of his colleagues just found out that Drake doesn’t even write his own raps and uses a ghost writer. Drake has been quiet so far but the boys expect that he will do something soon. The boys will stay up with the events following Mill’s claim that Drake doesn’t write his own lyrics.

After Shaun and Nick mentioned they are going to Adventureland this upcoming weekend, Dan wanted to share a story of how he is scared of most rides. Over the fourth of July weekend he went to the annual Urbandale carnival and road a ride with some friends and freaked out. It was pretty hilarious to hear. Then the boys discussed Adventureland’s water park, which is one of the only reasons to go there anymore.
