What’s up, everybody!

We’re nearing EP020! I’m super happy we’re still pushing out content and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Spoiler: Shaun hasn’t quit The EZPZ Podcast because of Fallout 4 just yet.

**We send our love out to those in Paris that have been affected by the tragedy last week. ❤ ❤ ❤ Stay strong!

0:00 – 11:32

We start out the cast chatting about the atrocious tragedy in Paris. Dan’s car completely broke down in parking lot. Which sparked a conversation about calling tow trucks and locksmiths.

11:33 – 23:52

Shaun discussed his awful customer experience with GameStop regarding his Pip By edition of Fallout 4 that they cancelled. He vowed to never shop there again. The lemon heads chat about Fallout 4 and some awesome moments Shaun has had in the game already.

23:53 – 33:26

Finding Dory’s first trailer has dropped. We chat about how great the trailer was not spoiling much of the movie and dove into how so many trailers nowadays spoil movies. Theater etiquette and escaping social media and your phone buzzing rounded out the conversation.

33:27 – 43:52

“Topic of the Show” time! There a large sector of the Internet that raised hell with Starbuck’s 2015 holiday cup. It’s just red and has no Christmas artwork.  Topic of the Show is #TotS. Let’s get the HASHTAG going!

43:53 – 57:51

Last week, Shia watched Shia in a movie theater and live streamed the entire thing. Will Shia La Beouf become our generations Gary Busey? We shall see… we capped out the episode with some music discussion including Apple Music, Foxing’s Dealer, Justin Bieber’s new album, Purpose. Shaun defended J-Beebs a bit.

57:52 – 58:35

That’s a wrap! Thanks for checking out the show. Ian Dunshee will be here next week for EP019. Get hyped, people

The EZPZ Podcast EP017: Burrito Goo

What’s up, everybody! Halloween is done and over, so we’re back on track… sort of. This episode is a bit late because Dan has had some crazy car troubles, which you can hear about in EP018. Look for that soon. Other than that, let’s dive right in.

0:00 – 12:53

We started off the show chatting about our favorite fast-food and junk foods. Casey’s pizza, Chipotle’s freshness Vs Panchero’s burrito goo. Let’s just say it has been a bad week for our diets…

Price Chopper has officially killed off Dahl’s and renovated many of their stores. The Canadian-based corporation doesn’t necessarily have the best prices. But their ad is pretty decent. We put Walmart on blast because…Walmart.

Shaun briefly chatted about his experience at the Des Moines marketing conference called #Market515, which hosted the marketing mastermind behind Hy-Vee, Nathan T. Wright. The lemon heads got into just how great Target is as a store, too.

12:54 – 30:48

WWE superstar Seth Rollins tore his MCL and ACL at a house show in Dublin. With the injury, he was forced to relinquish the world heavy weight championship belt. We got into some chitter-chatter about the WWE as a production company, which includes movies and music, too.

Movies like See No Evil and Oculus sparked a late conversation on horror movies. The Evil Dead remake is one of da best while we are all lukewarm on It Follows.

30:49 – 56:53

#RIPSethRollins title reign and #RIP2MyYouth, which is The Neighbourhood’s lead single for their new album, Wiped Out! We got into a conversation about some seasonal nostalgia we get from music, new-new from Stray From the Path, Sam Gellaitry and Mr. Carmack’s new-new and more.

Shaun shared that he hasn’t listened to much music lately and has been obsessing over the release of Fallout 4. Also, he announced the new video game YouTube series of “Let’s Plays” we’re calling The EZPZ Plays with Fallout 4 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time being the first two titles. Check out The EZPZ YouTube channel to see some gameplay of each game in GLORIOUS HD 1080p 60FPS.

Some are hyped on the new Star Wars and some aren’t so much. We do have hope in it since JJ Abrams is directing.

56:54 – 59:33

Thank you so much for listening to The EZPZ Podcast. We do this for you and only you, yes, I mean you reading this right now.

The EZPZ Podcast EP014: PSL Season

EP014 plain

This episode was recorded under the influence of fun and well, we’ll be honest, copious amounts of wine. We got behind the mic on a Friday night after Shaun got off work. It is a little more rowdy and rambunctious than our usual episode. Send your hate mail to @ShaunSJohnson. Please enjoy EP014: PSL Season!

0:00 – 10:14 — Introduction. #StealthModeDan’s patented weekly recap segment kicks off the show. His sister, Liz (@ESTORIE), had an art show in the East Village with the DSM Girl Gang and Dan went and shares his thoughts about it. He got Tacopacalypse after the art show and reported back that the food chain still hasn’t built a ramp. Shaun discusses how he recently moved. The Lift is hosting a poetry reading event on the fourth Monday. Dan attended it and had a good time going to it.

10:15 – 20:38 — Dan kicks off the second quarter of the show for what seems to be a weekly Tinder update. He finally had a good match! The lemon heads discuss Snapchat and how the discover page is so cool. Nick and his fiancé, Shayna, have been on the meal-prep game lately.

20:29 – 38:13 — National Coffee Day came and went. The lemon heads chat about their need of coffee and caffeine as they age. What comes with fall? Pumpkin Spice Lattes or PSLs to the kids out there.

38:14 – 51:38 — Tony Hawk Glitch Skater 5 came out this week. It made waves in the media for how many glitches and bugs are in the retail game. The game clocks in at 4GBs with a day one update of 8GBs. A national day/week that actually matters, Suicide Awareness Week, happened and the lemon heads chat some ways to relieve stress and depression. The boys end the show with the music they are jamming to right now.

*Editor’s note: Blu-rays are actually 25GBs, not 50GBs.

51:39 – 52:45 — Conclusion! Thank you for listening. Our show is free for everyone, so introduce the show to a friend for us!

HEY! Yo! What a time it is the be a part of The EZPZ, best friends! We feel good. We feel rejuvenated as all get out! EP013 was a blast to record and quite frankly, had some of our best moments in it. #StealthModeDan didn’t get his words confused like last week but we still gave him crap for being him.

Let’s dive right into what we discussed in the show:

0:00-5:55 — Introduction, Dan and Nick discuss Drake/Future’s What A Time To Be Alive

5:56-14:48 — Shaun, Dan and Nick all discuss their creative flow including how things like their environment can affect their productivity.

14:49-26:04 — The lemon heads discuss the 5000% price hike for Daraprim by Turing Pharmaceuticals from $13.50 to $750. Daraprim is a drug that fights infectious diseases that attack the immune system like toxoplasmosis. It is used often with people that are fighting HIV and AIDs

26:05-33:06 — Oh, great. Stitches is back in the headlines with his music video called “She’s a Liar”. It’s awful, as you would expect. The lemon heads discuss the track and video with great disdain.

33:07-42:05 — Great music has been released in the last week, including: Big Gram’s self-titled EP, Run the Jewels’ Meow the Jewels, Fetty Wap’s self-titled album and his motorcycle accident. Dan checked out Mac Miller’s GO:OD AM and spoke about how he wasn’t too impressed with it. Apple Music’s free 90-day trial is almost up! Shaun and Nick discuss if they are going to keep it or ditch it.

42:06-42:34 — Outro! Thank you for joining us this week! We feel like we’re getting some momentum again and hope to be more consistent.

The boys are back after taking four full weeks off because of vacations and schedule differences. Shaun and Dan dove right into a recap of 80/35 in Des Moines, IA. They discussed the acts on Friday that they saw, which included St. Lucia, Jenny Lewis, Talib Kweli and Rome Fortune. The boys discussed the incident that happened with Talib Kweli, where he had his mic cut short after going over his allotted time. Then they dove into Saturday’s acts, which included Canby, Jon Wayne and the Pain, Cloud Nothings, Lettuce, Run the Jewels and Weezer. Dan and Shaun mentioned how they loved Run the Jewels’ set but were pretty let down by Weezer’s set. Shaun said he felt they phoned it in.

Nick Gandy wasn’t in town for 80/35 and instead went to a wedding in Denver, Colorado. He gave some details of the beautiful ceremony and where they stayed. Shaun lamented that he wished Nick was in town so that he could attend the two Des Moines shows he went to solo: Good Old War on 7/15 and letlive. on 7/16. Shaun went on a rant about how nobody showed up to either of those shows.

Music Interlude: “Renegade ’86” by letlive.

With his inside sources, Dan let his co-hosts and the listeners in on the details of the new bar in Des Moines that is taking the place of where the Komodo Bar. The bar is going to be called Downtown. It will be two levels with live music and food. After discussing why they thought Komodo moving was a good idea, they dove into the Cityview’s expose on barbers in Des Moines. Shaun and Dan go to two barbers at Universal Kutz, Jordan and Ian, respectively. Check out their skills on their Instagram profiles!

Music Interlude: “King of the Beach” by Wavves

Nick and Shaun went right into what they think about Apple Music just a week or so since they both activated their 90-day free trial. Dan and Nick seemed to be convinced people can just download the entire iTunes catalog. Shaun tried to explain that it was protected by DRM, which would render all those files useless unless you had a membership with Apple Music. The boys further discussed some of the things they liked about the service, including Beats 1 Radio. They also chatted about the things they didn’t like about the service but said it is a good start.

Music Interlude: “Wasted Days” by Cloud Nothings

Dan wanted to chat about a new television that has started to air on USA called Mr. Robot. The thriller’s main character is a hacker with a lot of personal issues, including an addiction to morphine and depression. Shaun mentioned that he has finished season three of Orange is the New Black and that he has been watching season two of True Detective and that it has been a huge let down thus far.

The boys discussed the beef between Meek Mill and Drake. It all started with Meek Mill being offended that Drake didn’t give him a shout out on Twitter when he released his new album. He claimed that Drake didn’t shout out his new album because Mill and one of his colleagues just found out that Drake doesn’t even write his own raps and uses a ghost writer. Drake has been quiet so far but the boys expect that he will do something soon. The boys will stay up with the events following Mill’s claim that Drake doesn’t write his own lyrics.

Music Interlude: “Post Acid” by Wavves

After Shaun and Nick mentioned they are going to Adventureland this upcoming weekend, Dan wanted to share a story of how he is scared of most rides. Over the fourth of July weekend he went to the annual Urbandale carnival and road a ride with some friends and freaked out. It was pretty hilarious to hear. Then the boys discussed Adventureland’s water park, which is one of the only reasons to go there anymore.

Music Interlude: “I’m Not Part of Me” by Cloud Nothings

Thanks for listening to the show! We are just getting back into the swing of things. August will be a hectic month for the lemon heads with 515 Alive, Every Time I Die and the Common Visions Tour and Summerset Music Festival. Nick and Shaun plan on recording a live podcast at the festival like they did at Electric Forest. Thanks again! Check us out on the Internet below!

Have no fear, your dose of lemon head juice is here with episode 008 of The EZPZ Podcast. We kicked things off this week with Shaun chatting about how he and Lydia tried going to the farmer’s market in downtown Des Moines, the best city in the state. Being the novice he is, he didn’t even think about paying for parking, so he and Lydia could not even find parking. Shaun asked Dan and Nick what people can expect from the farmer’s market.

Dan has had a rough week with his disorder called HPPD (Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder). He discussed what that actually means for him and how he has to deal with it every day. Because it has been so rough on him the last couple weeks, he decided to do some research and found a vitamin that is supposed to help alleviate the disorder. Nick mentioned he has tinnitus and how it affects him daily, too.

Music Interlude: “Drugz” by Promnite

Someone was shot by a cop sitting in her cop car in Des Moines, Iowa. The man ended up dying from the gunshot wound to the abdomen. The lemon heads decided to dive into the touchy subject of cops killing citizens. The lemon heads moved away from cop killing citizens to citizens killing citizens. It’s been a rough year for Des Moines.

Music Interlude: “Linus Spacehead” by Wavves

The lemon heads eased into discussing Caitlyn Jenner. The discussion ended up getting a bit heated with Shaun and Dan somewhat disagreeing on the subject. The lemon heads ended up falling a little too deep down the rabbit hole.

Music Interlude: “Why My Ol’ Lady Gotta Be a Thot” by Marvel Alexander

Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference, affectionately known as WWDC, kicked off on June 8th with Apple’s keynote on their new software updates to come later in the year. iOS 9 was announced for iPhones/iPads. OS X El Capitan was announced by Macs. But the main announcement the lemon heads wanted to chat was Apple Music. They discussed the pricing and key features of Apple Music and also their competitors like Spotify, Pandora, Rhapsody and Tidal.

Music Interlude: “Time to Break Up” by Blink-182

Take a step back and breathe in, listeners. The entire episode isn’t about serious disorders, social issues or press releases. The lemon heads dove into their favorite thing in the world: music. Nick said he has been listening to Mr. Carmack a lot, like Shaun. He also mentioned that Electric Forest’s official Spotify playlist has been playing on repeat on his phone. Dan gushed about how much he respects and loves Mr. Carmack and Shaun asked Nick what his favorite song by Mr. Carmack after a week of jamming to him.

Shaun said he is looking forward to seeing Odesza at Electric Forest, so he has been bumping their records all week. Dan actually saw them in Iowa City at the Blue Moose. He said the venue seemed to be a bad choice for the electronic music duo and that killed the vibe of the show for him. Citizen’s sophomore album, Everyone Is Going to Heaven, was streaming in full on Spin’s website. Shaun discussed how he actually got to buy it early because Run For Cover released it on their BandCamp for $5. Dan said he has been listening to Mr. Carmack in anticipation of his new EP called the Red EP dropping later this month.

Music Interlude: “Parasail feat. A-1” by Louis Futon
